ASSIST provides architectural design, planning, and development support for nonprofit and community-based projects, with a focus on early-stage feasibility, adaptive reuse, and underserved communities.
Total Project number is based on the last 10 years and includes any organization we helped, no matter the scale.
ASSIST's Community Design program partners with nonprofit organizations, community groups, and local governments to provide high-quality architectural and planning services to those who would otherwise not have access to professional design assistance.
By engaging community and centering the people who will use the spaces we create, our work can take many forms depending on the needs of each project, including new building design, interior design, adaptive retrofits, and small-scale planning.
Community Projects
Design and planning for projects that strengthen communities and improve public access. This work includes park design and accessibility upgrades, town hall additions, community gathering spaces, and renovations for civic and nonprofit organizations. Projects often focus on creating welcoming, inclusive spaces that respond to the needs of the people who use them every day.
Adaptive Reuse & Renovation
Thoughtful retrofits and renovations for existing buildings, including churches, nonprofits, organizations, and healthcare or support services. These projects give new life to existing spaces through accessibility improvements, interior renovations, and reimagined uses that support growing organizations and evolving community needs.
Housing & Architectural Design
Full architectural services for new residential, multifamily, mixed-income, and community-focused developments. From early concepts through construction documents, this work includes affordable housing, multifamily communities, headquarters for community-based organizations, and other new construction projects designed to support long-term livability, dignity, and connection.
We partner with nonprofit housing organizations, community development corporations, faith communities, local governments, and other mission-driven organizations seeking thoughtful design services at accessible rates.
